Koauau (Flute)

A replica of the traditional Maori flute this Koauau flute was originally carved from wood or bone, and sometimes stone. The bone would be bird bone, from the moa or albatross.

This carved wood Koauau is approximately 12cm long and has two pieces of New Zealand paua shell on the sides.  It is made from sustainly harvested Tulip Wood, a lightweight but very strong hardwood,

The flute comes to you on a stand.
